Hello, my name is Nathan Lamont, founder and owner of 1A Calibration LLC.
1A Calibration was built around a simple principle: accuracy comes first, hence the 1A. That means doing the work correctly, reporting results honestly, avoiding shortcuts, and taking responsibility for the work we perform. Those values guide the company, but this page is about the person behind it.
I am a U.S. Army Veteran and business owner with nearly 20+ years of experience across manufacturing, construction, technical systems, and precision metrology. My background combines hands-on field experience with formal technical education, including an Associate’s Degree in Computer Aided Drafting from Central Carolina Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from East Carolina University, and a Master’s Degree in STEM Education from North Carolina State University. These degrees built confidence and knowledge on navigating educational priorities for training individuals in the associated fields.
My additional training and experience include ISO laboratory internal auditing, uncertainty budgets, statistical analysis, quality management, electrical devices, technical instruction, and precision instrument work. I enjoy building systems that are not only technically sound, but also practical, repeatable, and easy to understand for technical writing and customer service.
Much of my spare time still revolves around learning and building in the industry. As I enjoy studying new techniques in calibration and metrology, building jigs and testing rigs, working with robotics and code, and finding ways to simplify systems in the lab or workplace.
Outside of work, I enjoy painting miniatures, Friday night D&D, jigsaw puzzles, board games, video games, movies, anime, and spending time with my wife and our two cats. I also have a strong appreciation for peanut butter with honey, because some standards simply do not need improvement.
